Casimiro Mendes
Miro grew up in a small coastal town of Portugal. The lure of the ocean was irresistible, and by the age of eighteen, Miro was living in Ballard, WA and fishing in Alaska beside his stepfather. With a steadfast grip on the helm and salt in his veins, Miro Mendes has navigated the tumultuous waters of the Bering Sea for over two decades. As a seasoned commercial fisherman, Miro’s days began on a catcher/processor vessel and his love and passion for his job has led him on his journey to become a captain for large commercial fishing vessels. His intimate knowledge of the sea’s moods and the fish’s patterns has not only yielded bountiful catches, but also the respect of his peers in the fishing community. Off the water, Miro is a family man, a loving husband, and father to three. He spends his time with family, traveling, enjoying the outdoors, and always preparing for the next season.
